Sewer Backup

There are numerous factors that can hinder a sewer line from functioning properly. These are some situations that may be causing your sewage line to cease draining properly, ranging from natural to unnatural causes:

  • Tree roots – water and sewage can leak into the earth around a pipe as it ages and develops microscopic breaks. Trees and other plants are lured to the dampness, despite the fact that to you and me that sounds disgusting. Their roots have the ability to penetrate pipelines fully, obstructing the passage of waste and leading to backlog and clogs.
  • Accumulating waste – often the sole obstruction in the sewer system is an accumulation of garbage from those utilizing the facilities. These can include shower hair, food or grease from the kitchen sink, or personal care items from the toilet. Grease should never be put down the toilet, and neither should hygiene products. Even those whose package says “flushable” should be discarded. When businesses print “flushable” on packaging, they actually mean that product won’t cause a blockage in your toilet right away. The fact is that these items do in fact cause a variety of problems, if not in your home then at least in a significant portion of the sewer system.
  • Broken pipes – if sewer lines break, they might become inoperable very rapidly. They need to be fixed, whether it’s a major collapse brought on by years of deterioration or a misaligned joint. In addition to preventing your drains from emptying, broken pipes can also cause biohazardous waste to spill into the ground. Nobody’s situation there is ideal.
